“Turn your face to the sun and let the shadows fall behind you…”
I’m not sure where this quote came from but I think it’s one of my favourite for both life and it couldn’t be more fitting for this morning’s yoga class.
With a 360⁰ backdrop of London’s skyline, the top of St Paul’s Cathedral in front of me and the sun bursting through the fluffy clouds at 7am, I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the day.
I was lucky enough to nab a spot onBlue Cow Yoga’s Rooftop class at the top of One New Change a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been watching the weather like a hawk since. Anything on a rooftop is no fun in the rain, but on a day like today, it was the perfect location. Myself and my two housemates Lizzie and Claire set off together this morning and I don’t think we’ve ever been so excited for an exercise class.
About 30 of us gathered, yoga mats in hand and big, bright smiles on everyone’s faces despite the early start, to get our Zen in check before work. Our lovely instructor Kathryn talked us through the class and although there were points that we worked up a sweat with our warriors and downward dogs, it was a particularly enjoyable and relaxing class. And although I don’t think you need any more convincing on just how lovely the class was, it was completely free!
The hour flew by and it was unfortunately time to head to work just as the temperature was rising and staying in Savasana seemed like the ideal sun worshiping position on the rooftop.
We even got lovely little goodie bags with herbal teas from Higher Living and sugar-free sweets.
Keep an eye on their Twitter page for more date announcements – I’ve got fingers and toes crossed for some more morning sessions over the summer!
