Nikki’s 2017 Travel Bucket List
As the year is coming to a close, and I’ve inevitably used up all of my annual leave, I’m already thinking of how best to spend my holiday allowance for next year.
My travel bucket list of places to visit is endless — mainly because I just keep discovering exciting new destinations to add to the list — so I’ve decided to plan my year in seasons, so I can start ticking them off.
So for 2017, I’ve separated my year into seasons and listed a few places that are hot on my list. I hope it inspires you to add them to your bucket lists too!
After seeing some of fellow Scoop Sarah’s pics of beautiful Iceland, I’ve been itching to go and do a road trip across this beautiful country for myself. Getting the timing right for the Northern Lights is never guaranteed, but with so much else to see and do, I’m sure I won’t be disappointed either way.
The world’s happiest city! How could I not want to visit this adorable little Danish city ? It’s got everything I love – cobbled streets and multicoloured townhouses, delicious food (especially Danish pastries!), friendly vibes and cheap flights. Copenhagen, I’m coming for you!
I was lucky enough to visit Indonesia on a whistle-stop tour and boy did I fall in love with the country. After seeing some of the unspoilt magic of Java island, I’m keen to go back to explore more of Lombok, Kimodo Island and Flores. Dengue Fever be damned – Indonesia, I’m coming for you!
Another spot that’s long been on my bucket list! There’s a chance The Scoops will be on a Sri Lankan adventure over the summer months so stay tuned while we pin down the details! We’re hoping to have surf, sun, yoga and relaxation in equal measure so please do ping us your suggestion of places to see and things to do in the comment boxes below!
The Lake District:
I’m a huge fan of the staycations and the Lake District is hot on my places to visit for next year. I love the idea of spending the day hiking (with a dog in tow hopefully!) and returning to a cosy cottage in the evening to sit in front of an open fire, drink hot ports and just enjoy the peace and quiet.
I am ready to hit the slopes! After a really quick introduction to skiing in Cairngorms in Scotland (which I loved, even if the only thing I really mastered was falling down and slowing down) I’m ready to take on a real piste! I’ve been looking into resorts such as Les Arcs and Saalbach, which have been given the official thumbs up by fellow Scoop and awesome skier Sarah so I’m ready to get my ski on next year!
Have you been making a travel wish list for 2017 too? Let us know where you’re planning to visit and when in the comments below – you know I always love adding to my list!
